At level 8, Wurms, Will-o-Wisp, and "Rejoice, My Comrades!" all make sense depending on how you play your Chanter. In addition, a lot of your choices here will come down to personal preference. I think he's actually got one of the better stat spreads for his class as far as companions go (high MIG and INT), and is competent at what is the strongest, easiest Chanter strategy available. Wild Orlan is kinda nice because of the defense boost if facing Will attacks. That rules out Wood Elf, who only gets the distant advantage if staying away from enemies more than 4m. For some of your small range support spells, you need to stay close to your companions. You don't need to increase MIG, unless you want to play a pure healer, since with support spells you will be able to boost various attributes in addition to using food and other consumables. Generally, you want increased DEX for action speed, increased PER for offensive actions - and a Priest can even become the party mechanic. It's one of the reasons why Durance, a Priest of Magran, should use Sword and/or Arquebus and not a Quarterstaff. The god-specific talent decides which weapons you can use with a stacking +10 Accuracy bonus. What sort of Priest? Which role? Which god?
